I just watched Reservoir Dogs and it got me thinking, so I looked it up. Mr. Blonde would be facing some serious time just for his last scene.
Under California Penal Code (the movie was set in LA), the movie’s most famous scene would be evidence alone to convict Mr. Blonde of “aggravated mayhem” and “torture”. Disfiguring a person’s ear (Cal Pen 203) with extreme indifference for their physical and emotional well being (Cal Pen 205) is called “aggravated mayhem” and it carries a sentence of life. Torture carries the same penalty.
